Why e-Business?
Electronic Business commonly referred to as “eBusiness” or “e-business”, or an internet business, may be defined as the application of information and communication technologies (ICT) in support of all the activities of business. Commerce constitutes the exchange of products and services between businesses, groups and individuals and can be seen as one of the essential activities of any business. Electronic commerce focuses on the use of ICT to enable the external activities and relationships of the business with individuals, groups and other businesses.
The term “e-business” was coined by IBM’s marketing and Internet teams in 1996. Afterwards, the terminology has been adopted in its true sense. The next decade has raised the exchange of Information within business community that gave birth to other different classified concepts of e-business categories such as Business to Business (B2B), Business to Consumer (B2C) and so forth.
Adoption Phases of e-Business:
Electronic business consists of at least these following phases:
- A company, organization or an individual develops a Web portal.
- The detail of products, services or commodity items is included in the web pages.
- A relevant domain is purchased.
- A Server is selected for deployment of the Site.
- For Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) a feasible Web Hosting Service Provider are contracted for the Server Space.
- After Deployment of site a Web Master is hired to manage the Site and its contents.
- Major concern, the Security from the Cyber Attacks is ensured.
- At last continuous development and maintenance of contents is assured.
