Since the flooding of web sites, it has become difficult for service providers and the corresponding service consumers to be located / tracked. Ultimately, some web search applications were introduced in order to make online web searching possible.
The first move towards this direction was the development and deployment of Web Search Engines.
Search Engine (An Overview):
The unexpected and huge adoption of Web Based Development of businesses raised the demand of Web Portals that provide the basic searching capabilities to the Web Browsers / Web Surfers. Ultimately in 1993, first evolutionary Search Engines were introduced, given the names W3Catalog & Aliweb. Hence they laid a milestone of “Searching the Web”. In 1995, Yahoo! was launched, followed by other search engines Google & Bing (formerly MSN Search).
Search Engine Optimization (An Overview):
Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is the process of improving visibility of a particular web site, web page, product, service, profile etc. which are crawled, indexed and ranked by search engines to be displayed against search queries of the web surfer. Normally, search engines categorize the rankings under two categories, ‘Paid Rank’ and ‘Organic Rank’. Paid Ranks are also called Sponsored Links/Ads, which usually are on top or bottom of any Search Engine Result Page (SERP). The process of Paid Ranking is simple; client determines the keywords after analyzing their search percentage; opts a package pay for the services to the concerned Search Engine. Whereas, Organic Ranking is the ranking that is achieved on the basis of algorithmic and strategic development of search engine friendly web content.
